"I don't think we were created to fit a mold. We weren't uniquely crafted by a creative God to conform to some type of mainstream uniformity. It is by no mistake that you have your story, your journey, your path, your history, your struggle, your strength, your calling, your gifting. YOU were made on purpose with a purpose and it was NOT for you to go to church, sing a song, pray a prayer, keep a journal, and not cuss. It was so you would see this world in all its mess and brokenness and fall in love. Fall in love with the overlooked people. Fall in love with the outcast. Fall in love with the gay, the straight, the drunkard, the sober, the addict, the depressed, the anxious, the overwhelmed, the underestimated, and everyone in between. I think so many times in our walks with God we get distracted. We get so caught up in politics, regulations and rituals that we absolutely miss what Jesus has written for us. The task at hand is not to be a great person or someone who follows all the rules - but rather to be like Jesus. To be so passionate about the lost and broken that we’re willing to do whatever it takes to bring them closer to the Cross. To be so burdened by our neighbors’ struggles that we can't help but get messy with them as we walk alongside them. When we start truly pursuing the calling of our lives we'll soon realize "this is not normal." The beautiful thing is, we weren't formed to be normal. We were formed to see this world and decide the way things are cannot remain. The systems must be bucked. We must take a stance. We must fight. We cannot stand still and allow the enemy to have his way with us.
We can no longer be satisfied with casual encounters with Christ. We were not created to be a "Christian" we were created to be a rebel soul." -Liz Brantley
